Welcome to the Workin' My Way Community

This newsletter, and the related web-site and blog, are intended to be inspiring and educational for anyone who is considering turning a dream or a talent into a stream of income.  Not everyone is cut out for total self-employment, but many people long to be able to design a lifestyle, and work that supports it, their own way.  My role is to help them do that.

Each issue will include News and Announcements of opportunities and events; a section for Book and Resource Reviews; and another entitled Notes and Tips from My Journal where I will share clever ideas I've come upon recently, unique cool stories of entrepreneurial folks, and my personal take on anything I want to talk about. (Hey, it's my newsletter.) :)

Notes and Tips from my journal

One of my vacations this summer was to visit family in Newport, RI during the Tall Ships Festival.  Sailing is my absolute favorite past-time even though I get to do very little of it these days.  Being part of this year's gathering of these magnificent ships was truly thrilling.  They came from around the globe and many sailed for months at a time.  Their crews had painted and polished every surface and proudly escorted visitors aboard.  The ship pictured is Cisne Branco from Brazil.

The first thing that struck me was that these young men and women are truly pursuing something that they love.  It takes courage to sign up for duty that will take you away from your homeland and family for long periods of time, and to face the not always pleasant experiences of sailing on open ocean.   They have to love it!

The other is that every time I see a ship raise sails to leave the harbor, I am inspired.  No matter where we are, we all need to just "sail off" sometimes in order to reach for new destinations. I've signed up for a 5 month class that will help me stretch my wings and be a bigger and better voice in the world - I encourage each of you to reach out for something new this year also.
