Book Review

Live What You Love

notes from an unusual life

by Bob and Melinda Blanchard

Sterling Publishing Co

$14.95

If you don't know these two amazing people from their earlier book, A Trip to the Beach you have missed some great reading.

Not everyone can just chuck it all and move to an island and build a wonderfully successful restaurant from scratch, but as they explain in this second book, the steps are the same no matter what venture you are going after.

The key is to just go!

This delightful, funny and inspiring collection of life and business stories will get you moving toward your dream for sure.

Whether it was the birth of our child, the starting of a business, or deciding to bake a cake, we saw that little experiences, little decisions and little experiments can lead to big experiences, decisions, and lives.

These, in turn, can and do lead to a more passionate, more meaningful life.

In short chapters of memorable events interspersed with wonderful snippets of wisdom, you will find a story of love, courage and adventure.

Reading this book a little at a time will definitely scare away the winter doldrums. It's a bed-side table keeper.

Notes and Tips from my journal

It has finally snowed enough to cover everything in a white blanket and bring a halt to lots of activities for a couple of days in the East.

This winter has been pretty temperate until now around here.

Even the last couple of weeks of frigid temps have not been too bad because the sun was still shining most of the time

The winter blahs can still get us all down though, and we need to work a little harder to keep our spirits up.

I am fortunate that my local library has a reading room complete with large windows that look out on a garden and a fireplace that is ablaze on these cold days.

What a delightful place to gather some inspiration!

Even if the library near you is not as comfy, it can still offer a plethora of ideas and new directions.

Spending a couple of hours just browsing through a section that interests you can provide many resources, angles, and tidbits of knowledge that will fuel the pursuit of your dream.

Or go to the local book store for a while and just allow yourself some time to leaf through lots of the new magazines, or look through books in the self-help, career, or marketing categories.

You will be amazed at what you can learn.

Just one new idea might be enough to send you home with renewed enthusiasm.

I recently pulled It's Only Too Late if You Don't Start Now by Barbara Sher off the shelf and was glancing through it when I saw this quote, (pg 90)

Time is clay.

 Make something.

That one is now front and center on my inspiration board!

Lighten your winter blahs with a field trip this month. Make something with just an hour of time.
